Signed and Numbered

A cool new art concept Signed & Numbered launched this week set to become Australia’s newest mecca for art lovers.

Limited edition prints will be available online and in-store crossing over the whole art spectrum. From fine art to street art Signed & Numbered artists are chosen for their unique style and ability to inspire the viewer.

A concept space that will challenge your perception of how an art gallery can feel and how art can be displayed, Signed & Numbered is proud to be the art gallery with no art for sale on the walls. Its unique way of displaying prints makes it feel more like a record store than a gallery and detailed information on each of its artists sets it apart from the norm.

Limited edition prints will be available online and in-store crossing over the whole art spectrum. From fine art to street art Signed & Numbered artists are chosen for their unique style and ability to inspire the viewer.

Explains Director Jacqui Vidal, “Signed & Numbered was born out of the need for a gallery that truly embodies the principles of quality affordable art. I wanted to create a space that made people feel relaxed and welcome, the right environment for art lovers to view and fully appreciate art, without the intimidation of a stuffy gallery environment.”

Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, guaranteeing the origin of the print. At any one time up to 300 different works available for purchase. Each piece is a collector’s item and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Continues Jacqui “When you come into the gallery or hop online, you not only have the opportunity to view limited edition prints, but also find out about the artist that created it – from their motivation behind that particular piece, how they became an artist in the first place, to their top 5 albums on rotation.”

The business concept first came to Jacqui when living abroad when she discovered a shop in the Marais district of Paris selling touristy pictures of the Louvre and Seine. Whilst the expensive art didn’t capture her imagination, other facets of the shop did; it’s tiny ‘barely larger then a hole in the wall’ size, the bustling informal atmosphere and the art displayed in hard-backed sleeves allowing customers to flick through the prints.

After 6 years she returned to Melbourne with a small idea living in her head, Signed & Numbered.

Signed & Numbered’s amazing line-up of artists including the likes of; Vexta, TWOONE, Miso, Kareena Zerefos , Caitlin Rigby, Jan Van Dijk, Bel Johnstone, Catherine Campbell, Kaitlin Beckett, Kristy Milliken, Michael Steele, Nate Gamble, Rebecca Wetzler and Rik Lee.
